Opening red wine is so easy: there’s no bottle opener, just a paper clip…
Sometimes, you might find yourself with a bottle of wine, ready to be enjoyed, but without a corkscrew at hand. Don’t worry! There are several clever methods for opening a bottle of wine without this utensil.
In the following article, we’ll explain 3 simple and effective methods you can use to open a bottle of wine without complications.
Method 1: Towel and Wall
This is a surprisingly effective and easy trick to perform. You’ll only need a bottle of wine, a thick towel, and a wall. Here’s the step-by-step process:
Prepare the bottle: Remove the plastic capsule covering the cork of the bottle.
Use the towel: Fold a thick towel in several layers (if you don’t have a thick towel, you can use folded clothes) and place it at the base of the bottle.
Tap the bottle against the wall: Place the bottle against a wall and, with the towel at the base, gently tap the bottom of the bottle against the wall. Make sure to apply a steady force—not too hard to avoid breaking the bottle, but not too gentle either.
Pull out the cork: After a few taps, the cork will start to pop out. Once it’s far enough out, pull it out by hand until it’s completely removed.
Method 2: Paperclip
